about
Marta Wörner (1990, Madrid) is a movement and performance artist based in Rotterdam. She is working with expanded choreography as her primary medium. With a background in both film and choreography, she dissolves the boundaries between art and everyday life, creating counter-spectacular, site-responsive works that transform ordinary gestures into spaces of shared attention, vulnerability, and resistance. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media (Audiovisual Communication) from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s degree in Choreography from Codarts and Fontys Universities (NL), where she now works as a mentor and assessor.
Drawing from dance-based research, speculative philosophy, and visual art, Marta develops undisciplinary vocabularies that unfold through performances, scores, publications, installations, videos and collective warm-ups. Her choreographies are deeply informed by cinematographic language—not only through the use of screens to echo, magnify or complicate live action, but also in the way she composes: through slow temporalities, sensitivity to texture and light, and an attention to perspective and editing.
Her works have been presented internationally at venues including the Fringe Festival of Madrid and Edinburgh, Cinedans Festival (Amsterdam), The Boulevard Theatre Festival (Den Bosch), The Boulevard Festival (Den Bosch), TENT Rotterdam, Artelaguna Prize (Italy), The Arsenale of Venice (IT), The Grey Space in the Middle (The Hague), Motel Mözaique Festival (Rotterdam), ADM Circus Festival (Amsterdam), Roodkapje (Rotterdam) and WORM (Rotterdam).
